Scope
This project involved installing reinforcing steel and a post-tensioning system for a 10-story parking garage in downtown St. Louis. The crew installed and stressed the system as construction progressed and erected a tower crane inside the building’s central opening.
The crane went up first, and the building took shape around it. Dismantling and removing it through the completed 10-story structure had to be planned from the start, before the surrounding construction restricted access.
As each level was built, post-tensioning work had to be coordinated with concrete placement and strength requirements. Materials and equipment also had to move through a tight downtown site, making access and delivery sequencing part of the daily work.
The plan had to support construction floor by floor while preserving a way to take the crane apart and get it out.
