SCOPE OF WORK
This ongoing project involves structural maintenance and repair of the MacArthur Bridge’s superstructure and supporting structures throughout the main span.
The scope includes replacing bridge bearings, repairing and replacing structural components, and carrying out engineered lifts and column and girder jacking. Field fabrication and related field engineering support the repairs.
Working with the existing bridge means accounting for its loads, connections, and the condition of the steel. The crew takes field measurements and assesses each work area as components are exposed, checking actual conditions against the drawings.
Those findings guide the lifting, fabrication, and installation sequence. When the structure differs from what was expected, the team adjusts the repair approach to carry out the work safely.
